Webinar via Zoom on Thursday, 17 December at 9:00 – 11:00 Central European Time

In 2015, UN Member States adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (also known as the Global Goals) which comprise an ambitious, integrated and universal global agenda with the aim of “Leaving no one behind.” To meet this objective, UN leaders must support host countries in identifying the furthest behind and developing strategies which ensure that their needs are prioritized in national development strategies. This requires the integration of UN competencies, resources and tools, and regular dialogue between UN Country Teams (UNCTs), government and civil society. When effective, this cooperation promotes investments that transform systems of inequality, reduce poverty, and promote the inclusion of those most vulnerable.

Taking Kenya as an example, this webinar will explore what ‘Leaving No One Behind’ demands of UN leadership in-country and how UNCTs collaborate internally and externally to meet those demands. What unique challenges does Kenya face and what is the role of the UN in addressing them? How do different UN agencies and programmes contribute to put the furthest behind first, leveraging their comparative advantages while delivering as one?
